The Little Miami Panthers will venture away from home to take on the St. Ursula Academy Bulldogs at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Little Miami 3.7, St. Ursula Academy 2.6) so any runs scored will be well earned.
Little Miami's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Friday. They came out on top against Lakota East by a score of 5-0. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Panthers.
The result came thanks to Faith Thompson's shutout, as she gave up just three hits. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.
At the plate, the team relied heavily on Bailey Thieme, who went 1-for-3 with one home run. Ella Cook was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one RBI.
The scorekeeper got an easy start on Friday as neither St. Ursula Academy nor New Richmond made it on the board until the sixth inning. The Bulldogs skirted past the Lions 6-4. Winning may never get old, but the Bulldogs sure are getting used to it with their sixth in a row.
O Basil spent all eight innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and two unearned) runs on six hits and racked up 11 Ks.
On the hitting side, J Booth was incredible, going 1-for-2 with one home run, three RBI, and one stolen base. Another player making a difference was V Oberkorn, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one RBI.
St. Ursula Academy pushed their record up to 20-3 with the victory, which was their sixth straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Little Miami, their record is now 18-8.
Both Little Miami and St. Ursula Academy just can't seem to miss. The Panthers have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.2 hits per game. However, it's not like St. Ursula Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 3.2 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Little Miami took their victory against St. Ursula Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2015 by a conclusive 13-0 score. Will the Panthers repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
