If The Alex Longhorns were riding high off their 50-0 takedown of the Central Bronchos two weeks ago, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. Alex was dealt a 64-36 loss at the hands of Cyril on Friday. This was one game where the offenses had no trouble playing at a high level.
Cyril found their leader in underclassman Raiden Mclemore, who rushed for 245 yards and four touchdowns on only 15 carries, and also picked up 47 receiving yards. Nash Harman was another key contributor, throwing for 148 yards and two touchdowns on only 12 passes.
Alex's loss was their eighth straight on the road (dating back to last season), which dropped their overall record down to 2-5. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 10.0 points per game. As for Cyril, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 4-4.
Alex will look to defend their home field on Friday against Waurika at 7:00 p.m. Waurika is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak. As for Cyril, they will head out on the road to face off against Wilson at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The matchup should be an exciting one, as these teams are ranked near one another in Oklahoma (Wilson is ranked 29th, while Cyril is ranked 32nd).
