It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact the Jackson Red Devils can now relate to. They were beaten by Calvary Day 48-0 on Friday. While losing is never fun, Jackson can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Georgia football rankings (they are ranked 324th, while Calvary Day is ranked 37th).
Calvary Day got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Jake Merklinger out in front who threw for 260 yards and three touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes. Trevor Strowbridge was another key contributor, gaining 63 total yards and four touchdowns.
Jackson has been struggling recently, as they've lost seven of their last eight matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-9 record this season. As for Calvary Day, the win for they keeps them at an undefeated 11-0.
Jackson does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Calvary Day will square off against Thomasville at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
