After having lost a blowout in their previous game against Bell Creek Academy, the Brandon Academy Scorpions were happy to have found some success on Monday. They claimed a resounding 82-13 win over Universal Academy on the road. With that win, Brandon Academy brought their scoring average up to 51.1 points per game.
Brandon Academy got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Will Hawes out in front who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 11 rebounds. Hawes set a new season high mark in steals with four. Another player making a difference was Lorenzo Bevilacqua, who scored 15 points.
Brandon Academy's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-10. As for Universal Academy, they bumped their record down to 1-6 with that defeat, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season.
Brandon Academy is on the road again on Thursday and play against Cristo Rey Tampa at 5:00 p.m. on January 11th. As for Universal Academy, they will play host again and welcome Classical Prep, where tip off is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Classical Prep is still on the hunt for that elusive first 'W'.
