The Elbert County Blue Devils pushed their score all the way to 61 on Friday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a hard 79-61 fall against Rabun County. Elbert County has not had much luck with Rabun County recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.
Despite the loss, Elbert County still got an impressive performance from Grady Jones, who scored 29 points along with two steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Jones has scored all season. Landon Hill was another key contributor, scoring 13 points.
It was another big night for Cooper Welch, who dropped a double-double on 23 points and ten rebounds for Rabun County. Another player making a difference was Reed Burrell, who dropped a double-double on ten points and 11 assists.
Elbert County has traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost five of their last six matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-15 record this season. As for Rabun County, their win bumped their record up to 7-13.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Tallulah Falls the next time they take the court. Rabun County will head out to face Tallulah Falls at 8:30 p.m. on Tuesday, while Elbert County will head out to face them at 8:30 p.m. on Thursday.
