The Cowan Blackhawks's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their 11th straight loss. They fell just short of Southern Wells by a score of 34-31. Cowan was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Southern Wells apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2019.
When it comes to explaining why Cowan lost, one person who can't be blamed is Davelynn Lindsay. Despite the final result, she scored 12 points along with four steals. Lindsay has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times she's played. Alyssa Stevens was another key contributor, scoring two points along with two steals.
Cowan's loss was their sixth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 3-17. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 25.8 points per game. As for Southern Wells, their win bumped their record up to 6-14.
Cowan won't have much time to rest: their next match is against Muncie Burris at 7:30 p.m. on January 25th. As for Southern Wells, they will face off against Lakeland Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
