The Prairie View Thunderhawks suffered their biggest defeat yet this season on Friday. They had to suffer through a rough 66-24 loss at the hands of Fort Collins. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points Prairie View has scored all season.
Several Thunderhawks players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Celicia Robles, who scored 18 points along with two steals. Robles is absolutely dominating the point category: she's posted at least 15 every time she's taken the court this season. Paige Walker was another key contributor, scoring two points along with six rebounds.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Prairie View struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as Fort Collins racked up 16 assists.
Leading Fort Collins to victory were Avery Alcaraz and Jocelyn Kramar. Alcaraz scored 17 points, while Kramar scored ten points along with four steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Penley Park, who scored nine points along with two steals.
Prairie View are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 7-5. Those losses could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 28.7 points per game. As for Fort Collins, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 9-2.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Prairie View on the road again on Saturday and play against Horizon at 7:00 p.m. on January 20th. Horizon will be looking to keep their five-game home win streak alive. As for Fort Collins, they will head out on the road to square off against Rock Canyon at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Rock Canyon focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 17 on Thursday.
