The Hawley Bearcats will venture away from home to take on the Christoval Cougars at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.

Braylen Williams was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He didn't allow a single earned run and allowed only one hit while striking out eight over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.
In other batting news, Jesse Nieto was incredible, going 3-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and two doubles. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2025. Drew Siller was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three runs and one RBI.
Hawley was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .571. That's the best batting average they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but Christoval ultimately got the result they hoped for on Wednesday. They came out on top against Ozona by a score of 14-11. The game was the first time the Cougars have beaten the Lions on their field since April 16, 2021.
Like Hawley, Christoval also got a great game from a two-way player: Ty DeBusk. On the mound, he pitched three innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. DeBusk was also solid in the batter's box, going 2-for-4 with two runs and one stolen base.
Hawley's record is now 19-8-1. As for Christoval, their record now sits at 16-5-1.
Friday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Hawley has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .466. However, it's not like Christoval struggles in that department as they've averaged .489. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
