The Pike Central Chargers came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 6.3 points) and they left with even more momentum. They claimed a resounding 80-41 win over North Knox at home. That looming 80-41 mark stands out as the most commanding margin for Pike Central yet this season.
It was another big night for Quade Morton, who scored 33 points along with six rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Julian Gish, who scored 22 points along with five assists and two steals.
Pike Central is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last nine matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 8-7 record this season. As for North Knox, they have traveled a rocky road recently, as they've lost six of their last eight games, which put a noticeable dent in their 5-11 record this season.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Pike Central will stay at home for another game and welcome South Spencer at 8:00 p.m. on January 26th. South Spencer knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with flashy point totals in its past three matches -- so hopefully Pike Central likes a good challenge. As for North Knox, they will look to defend their home court on Friday against Washington Catholic at 7:30 p.m. Washington Catholic has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 5.
