The Mountain Vista Golden Eagles will challenge the Pueblo West Cyclones at 4:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games Mountain Vista has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.
Mountain Vista's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Thursday. They came out on top in a nail-biter against Fort Collins, sneaking past 2-0.

Sawyer Tipton tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits while striking out ten over 5.1 innings pitched. He also tossed two walks, which is notable because Mountain Vista is 2-1 when he allows at most two walks, but 3-4 otherwise.
On the hitting side, Spike Magill was excellent, going 1-for-3 with one home run. That home run marked the first that he launched this season.
Meanwhile, Pueblo West earned a 7-4 win over Vista Ridge on Wednesday. The victory made it back-to-back wins for the Cyclones.
Blake Mares was a major factor no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned runs off five hits. What's more, he posted four strikeouts, the most he's had since back in May of 2024. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run and stealing a base while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Kaden Garcia, who got on base in all three of his plate appearances with one triple, one stolen base, and one run. Jaiven Baca was another key player, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
Pueblo West pushed their record up to 8-5 with the victory, which was their third straight at home. The home wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.7 runs over those games. As for Mountain Vista, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Friday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Mountain Vista has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.6 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Pueblo West struggles in that department as they've been averaging 6.7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
