The St. John Fighting Herald will face off against the Boardman Spartans at 5:00 p.m. on Thursday. One thing working in St. John's favor is that they have posted at least ten runs in their last seven matchups.
St. John's pitching crew heads into the game hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Wednesday. Everything went their way against Badger as they made off with a 24-0 win. The Fighting Herald might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won six contests by ten runs or more this season.
Gus Petros made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, tossing three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Petros was also solid in the batter's box, getting on base in all three of his plate appearances with one run and one RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Ezra Campbell, who got on base in five of his six plate appearances with one home run, four runs, and four RBI. Those four runs gave him a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Dyln Newsome, who went 4-for-6 with four runs, two stolen bases, and three RBI.
St. John kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 18 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least eight hits in seven consecutive matchups.
Meanwhile, Boardman unfortunately witnessed the end of their seven-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell just short of Harding by a score of 2-0. The game marked the first time this year in which the Spartans were not able to get on the board.
Collin Resetar was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over 4.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off five hits (and only one walk). He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances.
St. John pushed their record up to 8-2 with the victory, which was their fourth straight on the road. Those road wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.5 runs on average over those games. As for Boardman, their defeat was their first in the conference, dropping their conference record down to 4-1 and their overall record down to 7-2.
St. John's speedy runners might be the difference in Thursday's contest. The Fighting Herald have been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 2.8 stolen bases per game. It's a different story for Boardman, though, as they've been averaging only 1 stolen bases. Will they be able to secure the bases, or will St. John continue to outrun the ball?
