After a string of eight wins, the Wamego Red Raiders's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They suffered a tough 73-51 defeat at the hands of St. James Academy. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest loss Wamego has suffered yet this season.
Reese Messer continued her habit of posting crazy stat lines for St. James Academy, going 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 30 points and 4 assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Messer has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Regan Becker, who scored 17 points along with five assists and two steals.
Wamego's loss dropped their record down to 8-1. As for St. James Academy, the win was the sixth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 7-2.
Wamego will be playing at home against Rock Creek on Friday. St. James Academy's road trip will continue as they head out to face Olathe Northwest at 6:30 p.m. on January 25th. Olathe Northwest will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 143rd, while St. James Academy is ranked 23rd).
