The Central Academy Cougars lost against the North Stanly Comets back in November of 2022, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Wednesday. Central Academy's tough 56-34 defeat to North Stanly might stick with them for a while. While losing is never fun, Central Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 640th, while North Stanly is ranked 238th).
Despite the defeat, Central Academy saw an underclassman step up: Michael Hoff scored 15 points along with six rebounds and three blocks. Those three blocks set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Emmett Lashbrook, who scored two points along with three blocks.
Central Academy has been struggling recently, as they've lost six of their last seven matches, which put a noticeable dent in their 2-8 record this season. As for North Stanly, their victory bumped their record up to 9-2.
Central Academy will head out on the road to face off against West Stanly at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. North Stanly is on the road again on Friday and play against Union Academy at 6:00 p.m. on December 29th. Hopefully Union Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up nine on Wednesday.
