4A Region 8 recap October 22, 2013
St. Stanislaus added to the longest winning streak in 4A Region 8 this week by beating Poplarville, 48-41. The victory was the eighth in a row for the team.
Pass Christian lost to Moss Point 45-21 last week, the largest margin of any game.
St. Stanislaus' offense was tough to stop this week, as it produced the league's top passer, rusher and receiver. Tyler Allen threw for 490 and 4 touchdowns and Brennen Bradley had 263 yards receiving. On the ground Allen contributed 195 yards. Chase Rhodes helped St. Stanislaus' passing attack out by catching 8 balls for 115 yards.
He went 25-43 with 3 interceptions.
Bradley had a great week catching the football as Gabe Fertitta's team topped the Hornets. He caught 10 passes for 263 yards.
Jontavious Lett was a key player and the best on defense this week as the Tigers beat the Pirates. The 5-foot-10 sophomore recorded 1 fumble and grabbed 1 sack.
Allen put up the best numbers in passing as the Rock-a-Chaws topped Poplarville.
St. Stanislaus' Allen and Bradley have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Allen has thrown for 3,028 yards this season, while Bradley has 65 catches for 1,317 yards. Chris Teal's team's Jiquan James leads the league in rushing yards with 834.
As it stands, the Hornets are in second, while Bay is in third.
The Tigers and Vancleave played the closest game in the league this week, with the Tigers eventually emerging with a 22-20 victory.
