Basketball Game Preview: Fairfield Falcons vs. Valley Vikings

Fairfield has gone 3-0 against Valley recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Monday. The Fairfield Falcons will challenge the Valley Vikings at 7:00 p.m. Fairfield is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 59.7 points per game this season.

Fairfield is headed into the contest after thoroughly thrashing Armijo: they outscored them in every quarter. Fairfield took down Armijo 61-43 on Friday. Given the Falcons' advantage in MaxPreps' California basketball rankings (they are ranked 274th, while the Royals are ranked 1153rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.

It was another big night for Johnnie Jones, who almost dropped a double-double on 32 points and nine rebounds. The dominant performance gave him a new career-high in points. Ivan Lopez was another key player, putting up nine points.

Fairfield smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 13 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 13 offensive rebounds in three consecutive games.

Meanwhile, Valley took a blow against Foothill on Friday, falling 76-43. The loss continues a trend for the Vikings in their matchups with the Mustangs: they've now lost six in a row.

Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Fairfield, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won 12 of their last 14 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 17-6 record this season.

Everything went Fairfield's way against Valley when the teams last played back in January, as Fairfield made off with a 60-35 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Fairfield since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
