The Tatum Eagles have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 11 games by 20 points or more this season. They put the hurt on East Bernard with a sharp 64-43 win on Wednesday. Given Tatum's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 176th, while East Bernard is ranked 608th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
East Bernard lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Abby Hudgins, who scored 11 points along with seven rebounds and four steals. Ashlynn Lemos was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with seven assists and six rebounds.
Tatum's win bumped their record up to 15-1. As for East Bernard, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 10-9.
Tatum's road trip will continue as they head out to face Teague at 12:30 p.m. on December 28th. East Bernard won't have much time to rest: their next game is against New Caney at 9:30 a.m. on December 28th. New Caney comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 25 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
