The Escalon Cougars will be playing at home against the Ripon Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Escalon will be looking to keep their six-game home win streak (dating back to last season) alive.
Last Friday, Escalon humbled Hilmar with a 49-21 victory. The result was nothing new for Escalon, who have now won three matches by 20 points or more so far this season.
Escalon's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Jamin Miller led the charge by rushing for 73 yards and a touchdown, while also throwing for 25 yards and a touchdown while completing 100% of his passes. Another player making a difference was Donovan Rozevink, who threw for 176 yards and three touchdowns on only 16 passes.
Meanwhile, while it was all tied up 7-7 at halftime, Ripon was not quite Livingston's equal in the second half on Friday. Ripon took a 28-14 bruising from Livingston. Ripon has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Escalon's win lifted them to 7-1 while Ripon's defeat dropped them down to 3-5.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Escalon has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 259.4 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Ripon struggles in that department as they've been averaging 150.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Everything came up roses for Escalon against Ripon in their previous meeting back in October of 2022 as the squad secured a 43-0 victory. Will Escalon repeat their success, or does Ripon have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
