The Cheylin Cougars posted their biggest win yet this season on Tuesday. They took their game at home with ease, bagging a 50-21 victory over Western Plains. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Cheylin also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2021.
Cheylin had a senior duo take command as Pablo Bermudez scored 25 points along with six rebounds and five steals and Logan McCarty dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bermudez has scored at least a third of Cheylin's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Matthew Hendricks, who scored seven points along with two steals.
Cheylin's victory bumped their record up to 9-4. As for Western Plains, their loss dropped their record down to 2-4.
Cheylin will stay at home for another game and welcome Golden Plains at 4:00 p.m. on January 26th. Golden Plains will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Kansas Rankings (they are ranked 328th, while Cheylin is ranked 141st). As for Western Plains, they will head out on the road to take on Northern Valley at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Northern Valley's favor is that they have posted big point totals every time they've taken the court this season.
