Robert Lee is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Jonesboro is on a five-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. The Robert Lee Steers will take on the Jonesboro Eagles at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Two weeks ago, Robert Lee humbled Eden with a 66-18 victory. The win was just what Robert Lee needed coming off of a 56-36 defeat in their prior matchup.
Meanwhile, everything came up roses for Jonesboro on the road against Evant last Thursday as the squad secured a 62-6 win. Given Jonesboro's advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 11th, while Evant is ranked 244th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
It was another big night for Jacob Cisneros, who threw for 49 yards and two touchdowns while completing 100% of his passes, and also punched in a touchdown on the ground. Nathan Forrest was another key contributor, throwing for 73 yards and three touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes.
Their wins bumped Robert Lee to 8-2 and Jonesboro to 9-1.
