For the first time this season, South Putnam will have a chance to prove themselves in a conference matchup. They will look to take advantage of their home field for the first time this season as they take on the Owen Valley Patriots at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. South Putnam is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 12.2 runs per game this season.
South Putnam picked up another tournament win on Saturday. They blew past Eminence 15-3. That's two games straight that the Eagles have won by exactly 12 runs.

Emelia Wells made a splash no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up three earned runs off six hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going 2-for-4 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, Madison Carpenter was incredible, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 3-for-3. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Elliana Cox was another key player, scoring two runs while going 3-for-4.
South Putnam was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .567. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .310 or higher every time they've taken the field this season.
Meanwhile, Owen Valley was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their third straight defeat. They came up short against Mooresville, falling 17-4.
Owen Valley saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Kalyn Greene, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.
South Putnam's win bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Owen Valley, their loss dropped their record down to 3-3.
Tuesday's contest will be a test for both teams' pitchers. South Putnam hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .483. However, it's not like Owen Valley struggles in that department as they've averaged .349. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
