AA Region VII recap Oct. 9, 2012
DeVonta Wright of Lee Central ran for the longest rushing play in AA Region VII this season against Lake Marion last week. Wright scampered for 65 yards on the play and finished with 131 on the day as his team defeated the Gators.
Lee Central took down Lake Marion 50-12 last week, the largest margin of any game. Johntel Johnson ran for 155 yards and caught one passes for 30 yards in the win.
Jaleel Filmore was the most productive running back in the league this week. He ran for 173 yards on 30 carries as Andrews topped Chris Carter's team. Ethan Wright also contributed to the rushing game with 89 yards on the ground.
The Gators' Deriante Jenkins and Mike Williams have formed a dynamic duo this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. Jenkins has thrown for 1929 yards this season, while Williams, a 6-foot-5 receiver, has 37 catches for 951 yards. Filmore from the Yellowjackets leads the league in rushing with 793 yards.
Lake Marion's Williams needs only 49 receiving yards against Timberland to crack 1,000 for the season.
Entering into this week's contest against the Wolves, Jenkins is short just 71 passing yards to break 2,000 on the season.
A big matchup in AA Region VII this week will be when Timberland takes on Lake Marion. As it stands, Arthur Craig's team is in first, while the Gators are in third.
The Stallions made the biggest jump in the national rankings this week, rising to 4,600 from 5,076. The improvement was the result of 50-12 victory over Lake Marion last week.
