The Camden County Bruins can finally bid farewell to their 12-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game on Wednesday. They skirted past Cape Hatteras 34-31. That 34-31 margin sets a new team best for Camden County this season.
Camden County's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Aaliyah Anderson, who scored five points along with 15 rebounds. Anderson is absolutely dominating the rebound category: she's posted at least eight every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Amaya Demps, who scored four points along with six rebounds and four steals.
Several Hurricanes players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kylie Philips, who scored 11 points along with nine rebounds. That's the first time this season that Philips pulled down eight or more rebounds. Elizabeth Fairbanks was another key contributor, scoring seven points along with 11 rebounds and three blocks.
Camden County's victory ended a five-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-3. As for Cape Hatteras, their loss dropped their record down to 5-4.
Camden County's homestand continues as they prepare to take on Pasquotank County at 6:00 p.m. on December 15th. Pasquotank County is hoping to put an end to a five-game streak of away losses. As for Cape Hatteras, they will head out on the road to face off against Pungo Christian Academy at 6:00 p.m. on Friday.
