The St. Petersburg Green Devils entered their tilt with the Hollins Royals with six consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with seven. St. Petersburg blew past Hollins, posting a 45-6 win at home. Considering St. Petersburg has won six matches by more than 23 points this season, Thursday's blowout was nothing new.
Jeff Jones continued his habit of posting crazy stat lines, rushing for 216 yards and three touchdowns on only eight carries. Jones is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last nine games he's played. Ge'land Calvin got in on the action too, converting a pick into a touchdown.
St. Petersburg's victory was their third straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 7-2. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 0-9 Hollins and 4-5 Osceola (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 33.3% over those games). As for Hollins, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-9.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Petersburg will take on Gibbs at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd. Gibbs comes in still looking for their first win of the season. As for Hollins, they will be playing at home against Osceola at 7:30 p.m. on November 3rd.
