Football Recap: North Desoto Piles Up the Points Against Southwood

North DeSoto got themselves on the board against Southwood on Friday, but Southwood never followed suit. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Cowboys 56-0. The result was nothing new for the Griffins, who have now won six matchups by 26 points or more so far this season.

It was another big night for Braelyn Latin, who rushed for 115 yards and three scores on only eight carries. Latin is crushing it when it comes to rushing touchdowns: he's punched in at least two every time he's taken the field this season. Another player making a difference was Luke Delafield, who threw for 147 yards and three touchdowns while completing 84.6% of his passes.

North DeSoto's run defense was locked in: Southwood could only muster 3.2 yards per carry. While three picked up at least four total tackles, Landyn Berry stood above the rest. He picked up two sacks and made four total tackles. North DeSoto didn't have any issues in that department, having averaged 15.7.

North DeSoto's defense didn't let the opposing QB, get away unscathed either: they got into the backfield for five sacks. Berry was especially locked on to Southwood's QB and sacked him twice.

North DeSoto's win was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-0. Those home victories came thanks in part to their defensive effort, having only surrendered 12.0 points on average over those games. As for Southwood, they have been struggling recently as they've lost three of their last four games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 3-3 record this season.

North DeSoto has already played their next contest, a 62-12 win against Woodlawn-Shreveport on the 24th. As for Southwood, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 47-6 loss against Northwood on the 23rd.
