The Destin Sharks lost against the Laurel Hill Hoboes back in December of 2023, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. Destin received a tough blow as they fell 65-51 to Laurel Hill. Destin has now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Laurel Hill found their leader in underclassman Aiyana Dixon, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 20 rebounds. Dixon has been hot recently, having posted eight or more rebounds the last six times she's played. Jalion Smiley was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with three steals.
Destin's loss dropped their record down to 3-13. As for Laurel Hill, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches, which provided a nice bump to their 10-5 record this season.
Coincidentally, the two teams will both be playing Florala the next time they take the court. Destin will head out to face Florala at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Laurel Hill will host them at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
