The Mt. Carmel Sundevils had already won four in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 18.8 points), and they went ahead and made it five on Friday. They took down Valley Center 71-52. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Mt. Carmel also won the last time the pair played back in February of 2022.
Gianni Bernabe was his usual excellent self, scoring 23 points along with seven assists. He hasn't dropped below 15points for three straight games. Raymond Hourani was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with nine rebounds and two blocks.
Several Jaguars players turned in solid performances, despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Carson Yoder, who scored 18 points along with three steals. Yoder has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last six times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Daniel Stehly, who scored eight points along with nine rebounds.
Mt. Carmel has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine games, which provided a massive bump to their 11-9 record this season. As for Valley Center, their loss dropped their record down to 12-9.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Mt. Carmel will take on Fallbrook at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Fallbrook is coming into the game on a three-game losing streak. As for Valley Center, they will be playing in front of their home fans against San Pasqual at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday.
