The Spring Valley Grizzlies will square off against the Mojave Rattlers at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday. Spring Valley has now lost eight straight, and the team is hunting for their first win since December 19.
Spring Valley suffered their biggest loss yet this season on Thursday. They had to suffer through a rough 72-45 loss at the hands of Arbor View. While losing is never fun, Spring Valley can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Nevada basketball rankings (they are ranked 38th, while Arbor View is ranked third).
Spring Valley's loss came about despite a quality game from Alijah Adem, who scored 17 points along with seven assists and six rebounds. That was a full 37.8% of Spring Valley's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was CJ Joshua, who scored eight points along with eight rebounds.
Spring Valley struggled to get the ball back on offense and finished the game with only four offensive rebounds. They are 1-4 when they can't control their own glass like that.
Meanwhile, even though Las Vegas scored an imposing 57 points on Thursday, Mojave still came out on top. Mojave walked away with a 69-57 victory over Las Vegas. The victory was some much needed relief for Mojave as it spelled an end to their four-game losing streak.
Spring Valley bumped their record down to 3-12 with that defeat, which was their fourth straight on the road. As for Mojave, their victory ended a three-game drought at home and bumped them up to 11-8.
Spring Valley took a serious blow against Mojave in their previous matchup back in January of 2023, falling 74-38. The match was all but decided by halftime, at which point Spring Valley was down 41-21.
