The Los Molinos Bulldogs will face off against the Portola Tigers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Both teams come into the matchup bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Last Friday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Los Molinos beat Maxwell 42-38. The win made it back-to-back wins for Los Molinos.
Los Molinos' win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Karson Fox, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and 11 rebounds. Fox has been hot recently, having posted 11 or more rebounds the last five times he's played. Another player making a difference was Luke Cantonwine, who scored ten points along with seven rebounds and six steals.
Meanwhile, Portola had already won three in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 22.7 points), and they went ahead and made it four on Friday. They took down Quincy 67-52.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead Portola to victory, but perhaps none more so than Connor Sheridan, who dropped a triple-double on 25 points, 20 rebounds, and 12 blocks. Sheridan is crushing the rebound category: he's posted at least eight every time he's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Magnus Berg, who scored 24 points along with five rebounds and three steals.
Los Molinos pushed their record up to 16-12 with that win, which was their third straight at home. As for Portola, they have been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 12 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 19-9 record this season.
Los Molinos took their win against Portola in their previous matchup back in December of 2018 by a conclusive 55-35. The rematch might be a little tougher for Los Molinos since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
