It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact Miami Country Day can now relate to. Their rough 76-52 defeat to the Lions might stick with them for a while. Miami Country Day has not had much luck with Westminster Academy recently, as the team's come up short the last six times they've met.
Herbert Wilson put forth a good effort for the losing side as he dropped a double-double on 30 points and 17 rebounds. That was a full 57.7% of Miami Country Day's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Ashton Reid, who scored two points along with seven rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Hialeah Educational Academy came tearing into Saturday's game with three straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 19.7 points) and they left with even more momentum. They secured a 80-76 W over Divine Savior Academy. Having run the score up that high, both teams probably have some extra defensive drills coming up.
Hialeah Educational Academy got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Chris Levy out in front who scored 22 points. Reece Randolph was another key contributor, scoring 21 points.
Miami Country Day's loss dropped their record down to 16-11. As for Hialeah Educational Academy, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matches, which provided a nice bump to their 20-8 record this season.
Thursday's matchup is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Miami Country Day have been dynamite from deep this season, having nailed 44.9% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Hialeah Educational Academy struggles in that department as they've made 44.8% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
