Calhoun has been on the road for two straight, but on Saturday they'll finally head home. They will take on the Paden City Wildcats at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday. Hopefully Calhoun is not getting complacent, as they presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Paden City in West Virginia (Calhoun is ranked 101st, while Paden City is ranked 840th).
Even though Calhoun has not done well against South Harrison recently (they were 1-8 in their previous nine matchups), they didn't let the past get in their way on Wednesday. Calhoun managed a 59-54 victory over South Harrison. The score was all tied up 26-26 at the break, but Calhoun was the better team in the second half.
Calhoun had a senior duo take command as Landon Bennett scored 21 points along with six rebounds and Dylan Buckius scored 21 points along with three steals. That makes it four consecutive games in which Bennett has scored at least a third of Calhoun's points. Caden Jones was another key contributor, scoring five points along with six rebounds and two steals.
Meanwhile, Paden City's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Wednesday after their third straight defeat. They had to suffer through a rough 70-32 loss at the hands of Frontier.
Calhoun pushed their record up to 9-7 with that victory, which was their third straight on the road. As for Paden City, their loss dropped their record down to 2-13.
Calhoun came up short against Paden City in their previous meeting back in February of 2023, falling 43-37. Thankfully for Calhoun, Adri Lila (who scored 17 points) won't be suiting up this time. Will that be enough to change the final result? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
