Jacobs and McHenry are an even 5-5 against one another since April of 2021, but likely not for long. The Golden Eagles will challenge the Warriors at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
On Monday, Jacobs came up short against Crystal Lake Central and fell 6-1. The Golden Eagles have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive lost meeting.

Skylee Ferrante spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned (and four unearned) runs on nine hits and racked up six Ks. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than six strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Jacobs saw two different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Talia Disilvio, who went 1-for-2 with one run.
Meanwhile, there's no place like home for McHenry, who bounced back after a loss on the road on Saturday. Everything went their way against Crystal Lake South on Monday as they made off with a 7-1 win. The victory continues a trend for the Warriors in their matchups with the Gators: they've now won five in a row.
McHenry also let their pitcher toss all seven innings and she was also dialed-in: Natalie Bender gave up a run (which was unearned) on five hits and racked up ten Ks.
At the plate, Danica McCarthy was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, two runs, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Rylinn Gottstein was another key player, going a perfect 1-for-1 with one stolen base, one run, and one double.
Jacobs' loss dropped their record down to 15-15. As for McHenry, their win bumped their record up to 13-15.
Jacobs came out on top in a nail-biter against McHenry in their previous meeting back in April, sneaking past 10-9. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Golden Eagles since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
