The Caston Comets will challenge the Tri-County Cavaliers at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. Caston will be looking to extend their current four-game winning streak.
Caston is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Saturday. They put the hurt on South Newton with a sharp 22-2 win. The Comets' hitters stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most runs they've scored all season.
London Herd and Noah Herd were major factors no matter where they played. Throwing, Herd tossed one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. Meanwhile, Noah tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit. He has been consistent recently: he hasn't given up more than two hits in four consecutive appearances. At the plate, Herd got on base in all four of his plate appearances with three runs and four RBI, while Noah got on base in all four of his plate appearances with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. What's more, London posted two hits, the most he's had since back in April.

In other batting news, Caston let Parker Zimpleman and Tucker Woolever run wild. Zimpleman got on base in four of his five plate appearances with four runs and two RBI, while Woolever went 3-for-4 with three runs and two RBI. Those four runs gave Zimpleman a new career-high. Drew McGrew was another key player, going 2-for-3 with three RBI and one run.
Caston always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .705. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Tri-County hadn't beaten Pioneer on the road since April 2, 2019 but that history sure didn't bother them on Saturday. The Cavaliers walked away with a 9-4 victory over the Panthers. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Cavaliers.
Grayson Schneider was incredible, going 1-for-3 with one home run and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Tyler Burns, who went 1-for-4 with one home run and two RBI.
Caston's record now sits at 20-7. As for Tri-County, their record is now 15-6.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Caston has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.1 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Tri-County struggles in that department as they've been averaging 3.1 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
Everything went Caston's way against Tri-County when the teams last played back in April of 2021, as Caston made off with a 14-1 win. Will the Comets repeat their success, or do the Cavaliers have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
