The Mt. Vernon Yellowjackets will square off against the Strasburg-Franklin Tigers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Mt. Vernon is coming into the contest hot, having won their last seven games.
Mt. Vernon had to skate by with only a two-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the 11-run drubbing they dealt Heath on Wednesday. The Yellowjackets were the clear victors by a 17-6 margin over the Bulldogs. Considering the Yellowjackets have won nine matches by more than five runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.

Miranda Oswalt looked comfortable as she didn't allow a single earned run while striking out six over four innings pitched. Those six strikeouts gave her a new career-high.
On the hitting side, Brooke Dovenbarger was incredible, going 3-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two doubles. Those two doubles gave her a new career-high. Carly Kennedy was another key player, going 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and one double.
Mt. Vernon was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .390. That was just more of the same: they've now posted a batting average of .300 or higher in 14 consecutive games.
For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Strasburg-Franklin and Indian Valley meet (three straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Thursday. The Tigers fell just short of the Braves by a score of 6-4.
Ella Gilkerson made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-2 with one home run and two RBI. Another player making a difference was Addy Sibila, who went 1-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Mt. Vernon's victory bumped their record up to 13-2. As for Strasburg-Franklin, their loss dropped their record down to 9-7.
Strasburg-Franklin's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Mt. Vernon has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .489.
