South View hasn't had much luck against Cape Fear recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The South View Tigers will face off against the Cape Fear Colts at 7:00 p.m. South View is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.6 runs per game this season.
South View will bounce into Friday's match after beating Gray's Creek, who they had gone 1-8 against in their nine prior meetings. South View came out on top against Gray's Creek by a score of 7-3 on Tuesday. The win was some much needed relief for the Tigers as it spelled an end to their three-game losing streak.

David Ramsey made a big impact while hitting and pitching. He struck out six batters over 5.1 innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off five hits. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, scoring a run while going 2-for-4.
Ramsey wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Avery Barbour, who scored a run while going 1-for-4.
Meanwhile, Cape Fear posted their closest victory since February 25th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Midway 9-8. The win was familiar territory for the Colts, who have now won three contests in a row.
Like South View, Cape Fear also got a great game from a two-way player: Brody Jackson. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching one inning while giving up no earned runs off one hit. Jackson was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4. That's the most hits he has posted since back in March of 2024.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Underwood, who went 1-for-3 with two stolen bases and one double. Chris Serbio also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.
Cape Fear's record is now 7-4. As for South View, the victory got them back to even at 5-5.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Friday as neither team is afraid to steal. South View has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.6 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Cape Fear struggles in that department as they've been averaging 2.9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
South View might still be hurting after the 11-2 defeat they got from Cape Fear in their previous meeting back in April of 2024. Can South View avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
