The Green Tech Eagles fell victim to the Cambridge/Salem 's's stalwart defense on Saturday and couldn't make it onto the board. They took a serious blow against the , falling 42-0. The last quarter was a mere formality, since the game's final score was reached by the end of the third quarter.
Cambridge/Salem's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Stephen Yakubec, who threw for 89 yards and four touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes. Baxter Mattosn was in the mix too, providing Cambridge/Salem with two touchdowns.
Green Tech's defeat was their fourth straight on the road, which dropped their overall record down to 1-4-1. Admittedly, the team was facing some tough opposition over that stretch, including 9-0 Ravena-Coeymans-Selkirk and 5-2 Lansingburgh (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 69.2% over those games). As for Cambridge/Salem, the win (which was their third in a row) raised their record to 5-4.
Green Tech does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Cambridge/Salem will head out on the road to face off against Warrensburg/Lake George/Bolton at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. One thing working in Warrensburg/Lake George/Bolton's favor is that they have now posted big point totals every time they've taken the field this season.
