Softball Recap: Aubrey Rogers' Losing Streak Is a Thing of the Past

Aubrey Rogers was handed a heart-breaking two-run defeat in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Naples on Tuesday. The Patriots blew past the Golden Eagles 13-5. The Patriots might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won seven games by eight runs or more this season.

Delaney McCroskery was a major factor no matter where she played. On the mound, she tossed seven innings while giving up four earned (and one unearned) runs off seven hits. What's more, she posted five strikeouts, the most she's had since back in February. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring two runs while going 3-for-5.

In other batting news, Aubrey Rogers let Jayline Martinez and Sophia Truchan run wild. Martinez got on base in five of her six plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one RBI, while Truchan got on base in three of her six plate appearances with three runs, one triple, and two RBI. That's the most runs Truchan has posted since back in March. The team also got some help courtesy of Alexis Alvarez, who went 3-for-5 with two RBI.

Aubrey Rogers hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. They are 4-2 when they post two or more strikeouts.

With the victory, Aubrey Rogers broke their five-game losing streak and moved their record to 9-13. As for Naples, they dropped their record down to 4-15 with the loss, which was their eighth straight at home.

Coincidentally, Aubrey Rogers and Naples will both be playing Lely the next time they take the field. The Patriots will head out to face the Trojans at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Golden Eagles will host them at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
