The Winslow Bulldogs will head out to face off against the Round Valley Elks at 2:00 p.m. on Monday. Winslow has given up an average of 7.8 runs per game this season, but Monday's game will give them a chance to turn things around.
Winslow managed to slip by Bourgade Catholic the last time these teams faced off, but didn't have those same answers this time around. The Bulldogs lost 12-2 to the Golden Eagles on Friday. The Bulldogs' loss signaled the end of their four-game winning streak.
Rylie Sharp made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and went a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
Meanwhile, Round Valley got the win against Phoenix Christian on Saturday by a conclusive 13-6. Considering the Elks have won eight matches by more than six runs this season, Saturday's blowout was nothing new.
Carla Arreola made a splash while hitting and pitching. She struck out ten batters over seven innings while giving up four earned (and two unearned) runs off five hits. She has been consistent recently: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in four consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three doubles, three RBI, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in March.
In other batting news, Round Valley got a massive performance out of Autum Webster, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. Those three RBI gave Webster a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Ruth Wiltbank, who went 1-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs.
Round Valley kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 13 hits. They are a perfect 6-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Round Valley is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-6 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 13.2 runs over those games. As for Winslow, their defeat dropped their record down to 14-10.
Fans could be in store for some top-tier slugging on Monday. Winslow hasn't had any problems when it comes to power this season, having averaged 1.2 home runs per game. However, it's not like Round Valley struggles in that department as they've been averaging 1 home runs. With so much power on both teams, it'll be down to the pitchers to keep the mound locked down.
Winslow couldn't quite finish off Round Valley in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 and fell 11-9. Can the Bulldogs avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
