Tyner Academy waltzed into their matchup on Tuesday with four straight wins... but they left with five. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat the Sequatchie County Indians 77-38. The Rams have made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won nine contests by 22 points or more this season.
Leading Tyner Academy to victory were Kalvontay Moore and Kohl Ward. Moore went 6 of 7 on his way to 14 points and six boards, while Ward went 5 for 6 en route to 10 points in addition to five assists and three steals. That's the most points Moore has posted since back in December of 2023. Zion Pinkerton was another key player, putting up 14 points and four steals.
They weren't the only one working in the assists department: Tyner Academy was working as a unit and finished the game with 18 assists. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Sequatchie County only posted ten assists.
Sequatchie County's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Beckham McKendrick, who posted 12 points and five rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Colton Cribbs, who earned five points.
Tyner Academy pushed their record up to 16-6 with the win, which was their fifth straight at home. They've dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 33 points. As for Sequatchie County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven games, which put a noticeable dent in their 9-11 record this season.
Tyner Academy will challenge Chattanooga School for the Arts & Sciences at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. As for Sequatchie County, they will take on Bledsoe County at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Bledsoe County knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with 55 points or more in their past six matchups -- so hopefully Sequatchie County likes a good challenge.
