Forney is preparing for their first district matchup of the season on Friday. They will take on the North Forney Falcons at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
As a matter of fact, Forney put up the most points they have all season on Friday. They claimed a resounding 75-20 victory over Boswell. Given the Jackrabbits' advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 36th, while the Pioneers are ranked 308th) , the win wasn't entirely unexpected.
Forney had a senior duo take command as Nelson Peterson Jr. threw for 176 yards and three TDs on only 11 passes and Javian Osborne rushed for 136 yards and a pair of scores on only nine carries. Another player making a difference was Caleb Chrest, who rushed for 50 yards and one touchdown.
Forney was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 349 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, North Forney strolled into their game on Friday with a perfect record and they left with the same. They blew past Lake Ridge 55-28. The Falcons pushed the score to 42-21 by the end of the third, a deficit the Eagles had little chance of recovering from.
Forney better focus on containing Legend Bey and Cordai Woodard as the pair were huge in North Forney's win. Bey rushed for 181 yards and four TDs on only ten carries, while Woodard rushed for 180 yards and a pair of scores on only 13 carries. That's the most rushing touchdowns Bey has posted since back in October of 2024.
Forney's record is now 3-1. As for North Forney, their record now sits at 4-0.
Friday's contest might be decided on the ground. Forney has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 217 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like North Forney struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 373.2 rushing yards. There's a good chance Friday's game turns into a tough fight on the ground.
Forney came up short against North Forney when the teams last played back in September of 2024, falling 35-31. A big factor in that loss was the dominant performance of Bey, who rushed for 198 yards and three touchdowns while picking up 8.6 yards per carry, and also threw for 118 yards and a pair of TDs on only ten passes. Now that the Jackrabbits know the damage he can cause, will they be able to stop him this time? Check MaxPreps.com after the match to find out.
