The Hoisington Cardinals put another one in the bag on Tuesday to keep their perfect season alive. They enjoyed a cozy 52-37 win over Sterling. Given Hoisington's advantage in MaxPreps' Kansas basketball rankings (they are ranked sixth, while Sterling is ranked 201st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Hoisington's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Kylee Hahn led the charge by scoring 15 points along with six rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jordyn Boxberger, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and six steals.
Hoisington pushed their record up to 5-0 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road dating back to last season. As for Sterling, their loss dropped their record down to 1-4.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. After both having extra time off, Hoisington and Smoky Valley will dust off their jerseys to take on one another at 6:00 p.m. on January 2, 2024. Sterling will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Inman on January 2, 2024.
