The St. Joseph Cadets will look to defend their home court on Friday against the Darien Blue Wave at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
St. Joseph won a close one the last time they played, but unfortunately they suffered a serious change of fortune on Tuesday. They were dealt a 71-43 defeat at the hands of Ridgefield. The result shouldn't come as a shock considering that's the fewest points St. Joseph has scored all season.
Despite the loss, St. Joseph had strong showings from Sean Christy, who scored 16 points along with three blocks, and Tj Wright, who scored 16 points along with three steals. That was a full 37.2% of St. Joseph's points, marking the third time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. Another player making a difference was Chase Bryant, who scored a point along with six rebounds and three steals.
Meanwhile, Darien pushed their score all the way to 59 on Wednesday, but even that wasn't enough to win. They took a 63-59 hit to the loss column at the hands of Stamford. While losing is never fun, Darien can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Connecticut basketball rankings (they are ranked 113th, while Stamford is ranked 13th).
St. Joseph has been struggling recently, as they've lost three of their last four matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-4 record this season. As for Darien, their defeat was their fifth straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 3-6.
St. Joseph didn't have too much breathing room in their match against Darien when the teams last played back in January of 2023, but they still walked away with a 56-52 win. Will St. Joseph repeat their success, or does Darien have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
