In a rematch of last season's Division II-AA state final,
Baylor (Chattanooga, Tenn.) shocked defending champion
Ensworth (Nashville, Tenn.) 42-14.
Quarterback
Matthew Oellerich was the story for Baylor. He scored five total touchdowns, outshining Ensworth's highly touted running back,
Cornelius Elder.
Earlier in the week, MaxPreps pegged this matchup as a
potential upset, as Baylor entered the game with great momentum following a victory over Montgomery Bell Academy.
After Ensworth opened the scoring with a first-quarter touchdown, Oellerich and Baylor rattled off 35 consecutive points. Ensworth would not score again until there were eight minutes remaining in the fourth quarter.
A 40-yard fumble recovery for a touchdown sealed the game for Baylor.
