The North Star Cougars stacked a seventh blowout win onto their ever-increasing hoard on Friday. They took their contest on the road with ease, bagging a 77-39 win over Meyersdale. The victory was familiar territory for North Star who now have four in a row.
North Star was led to victory by CJ Biery and Ethan Smith. Biery went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 18 points and 3 assists, while Smith almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine rebounds. It was the first time this season that Biery scored 15 or more points. Another player making a difference was Brady Weimer, who scored 14 points.
Meyersdale's loss came despite a true team effort from the offense, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Spencer Whitfield, who scored nine points along with six rebounds. Ryan Sechler was another key contributor, scoring eight points.
North Star has been performing well recently as they've won ten of their last 13 matches, which provided a nice bump to their 14-5 record this season. As for Meyersdale, they are on a ten-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-19.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Star will face off against the Rockets at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Rockwood is out to stop a seven-game streak of losses at home. Meyersdale will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on the Indians at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
