After a string of eight wins, The Trinity Christian Lions''s good fortune finally ran out on Thursday. They were outmatched by Liberty Christian on the road and fell 49-7. While losing is never fun, Trinity Christian can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 291st, while Liberty Christian is ranked 29th).
Liberty Christian can attribute much of their success to Cole Welliver, who threw for 238 yards and four touchdowns while completing 75% of his passes. Welliver is on a roll when it comes to passing touchdowns, as he's now passed for three or more in the last eight games he's played. Another big playmaker for Liberty Christian was Quinton Brown, who returned a punt for a touchdown.
Trinity Christian's loss dropped their record down to 8-2. As for Liberty Christian, their victory was their 11th straight at home (dating back to last season), bumping their overall record up to 10-0.
Trinity Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now. Liberty Christian will head out on the road to face off against Bishop Dunne at 7:00 p.m. on November 10th.
