It may have taken overtime to finish the job, but the North Callaway Thunderbirds ultimately got the result they hoped for on Friday. They walked away with a 66-59 victory over Silex. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
North Callaway's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Abrielle Burgher, who scored 22 points along with five rebounds and five steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Burgher has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Lakyn Hartley, who scored 14 points along with seven rebounds and two steals.
The victory makes it two in a row for North Callaway and bumps their season record up to 12-7. As for Silex, their loss dropped their record down to 2-6.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. North Callaway's road trip will continue as they head out to face Wellsville-Middletown at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th. As for Silex, they will challenge Mark Twain at 5:30 p.m. on Monday. Mark Twain comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
