Berthoud is 0-3 against Resurrection Christian since January of 2023 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Saturday. The Berthoud Spartans will head out on the road to challenge the Resurrection Christian Cougars at 7:00 p.m. One thing working in Berthoud's favor is that they have posted big point totals in their last six matches.
Even though University scored an imposing 58 points on Tuesday, Berthoud still came out on top. Berthoud strolled past University with points to spare, taking the game 74-58. Winning is a bit easier when you work as a team to rack up 12 more assists than your opponent, as Berthoud did.
Isaac Erickson was his usual excellent self, scoring 15 points along with three blocks and two steals. He has been hot recently, having posted two or more blocks the last four times he's played. Reece Stratmeyer was another key contributor, almost dropping a double-double on 11 points and nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, Resurrection Christian entered their tilt with Sterling with three consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with four. Resurrection Christian enjoyed a cozy 53-35 victory over Sterling on Thursday. Given Resurrection Christian's advantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 19th, while Sterling is ranked 92nd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Berthoud's win bumped their record up to 12-7. As for Resurrection Christian, they pushed their record up to 16-2 with that victory, which was their fourth straight on the road.
Berthoud was taken down by Resurrection Christian 72-34 in their previous matchup back in January. Can Berthoud avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
