Northampton County and the Chargers are an even 5-5 against one another since February of 2019, but not for long. The Northampton County Jaguars will head out on the road to take on the Weldon Chargers at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Northampton County can now show off nine landslide victories after their most recent contest on Wednesday. They really took it to Rocky Mount Prep for the full four quarters, racking up a 60-22 victory on the road. The contest was all but wrapped up at the end of the third, by which point Northampton County had established a 22 point advantage.
Michaela Hodge was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 22 points and 16 rebounds. Hodge is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Charlice Tyner, who scored 11 points along with six rebounds and five steals.
Meanwhile, Weldon entered their tilt with the Trojans with two consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with three. Weldon took down the Trojans 67-48 on Tuesday.
Northampton County pushed their record up to 12-3 with that victory, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 64.8 points per game. As for Weldon, their victory bumped their record up to 8-4.
Everything went Northampton County's way against the Chargers when the teams last played back in January as the Jaguars made off with a 65-44 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Northampton County since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
