Armada is 0-1 against Corunna since November of 2021 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Armada Tigers will head out on the road to face off against the Corunna Cavaliers at 7:00 p.m. Each of these teams will be fighting to keep a win streak alive as Armada comes in on three and Corunna on eight.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Armada at home against Richmond as the squad secured a 56-14 win. The result was nothing new for Armada, who have now won four games by 20 points or more so far this season.
Jackson Malburg had an outrageously good game as he rushed for 152 yards and four touchdowns. Zac Dykes was another major influence, as he rushed for 49 yards and ran in a TD.
Meanwhile, Corunna was fully in charge on Saturday, breezing past Fenton 57-7 at home. With Corunna ahead 36-7 at the half, the match was all but over already.
Corunna can attribute much of their success to Wyatt Bower, who rushed for 130 yards and three touchdowns on only seven carries, and Jaden Edington, who rushed for 141 yards and two touchdowns on only eight carries. Bower was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 57 yards. Parker Isham also deserves a mention for his punt return touchdown.
Corunna's defense stepped up as well, laying out the QB three times. In fact, those sacks all came courtesy of defensive juggernaut Dayne Zeeman.
Their wins bumped Armada to 5-3 and Corunna to 8-0.
Here's a few offensive stats to keep an eye on ahead of Friday's contest: Armada has been unstoppable on the ground this season, having averaged 262.1 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Corunna struggles in that department as they've been averaging 198.4 per game. It's looking like Friday's game might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Armada came up short against Corunna in their previous meeting back in November of 2021, falling 20-8. Can Armada avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
