Woodford County is 9-1 against Madison Central since April of 2015 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. Woodford County is taking a road trip to challenge Madison Central at 6:15 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Woodford County not only won on Tuesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 23, 2024. They put the hurt on Boyle County with a sharp 16-5 victory. The Yellowjackets have beaten the Rebels the last four times they've met, but they better watch out: this was the closest the Rebels has come to flipping the script.

Sophia Gannon made a big impact no matter where she played. She pitched five innings while giving up three earned (and one unearned) runs off six hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-4. Those three runs gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Addie Bryant, who scored three runs and stole four bases while going 4-for-4. What's more, she posted three RBI, the most she's had since back in March of 2024. Another player making a difference was Kaylee Boswell, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-5.
Meanwhile, Madison Central entered their tilt with Tates Creek on Wednesday with four consecutive wins, and they'll enter their next game with five. They blew past the Commodores 17-3.
Like Woodford County, Madison Central also got a great game from a two-way player: Kate Drury. On the mound, she didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. Drury was also big at the plate, going 1-for-2 with two RBI.
In other batting news, Reille Parks was incredible, scoring three runs and stealing two bases while going 3-for-4. Riley Harris also deserves some recognition as she scored her first run of the season.
Madison Central was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .545. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Tates Creek only posted a batting average of .300.
Madison Central's win was their fourth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 5-1. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.5 runs on average over those games. As for Woodford County, the win got them back to even at 1-1-1.
Woodford County came out on top in a nail-biter against Madison Central when the teams last played back in April of 2023, sneaking past 7-6. The rematch might be a little tougher for Woodford County since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
