Queen Anne's County is 6-1 against the Indians since February of 2016, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Wednesday. The Queen Anne's County Lions' road trip will continue as they head out to face the Wicomico Indians at 5:30 p.m. on February 7th. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Last Thursday, everything went Queen Anne's County's way against the Vikings as the Lions made off with a 56-34 win.
Meanwhile, Wicomico had already won 11 in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 41.1 points), and they went ahead and made it 12 on Monday. They claimed a resounding 67-24 win over Decatur on the road. Given Wicomico's advantage in MaxPreps' Maryland basketball rankings (they are ranked 45th, while the Seahawks are ranked 125th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Wicomico can attribute much of their success to Gabrielle Corbin, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and ten rebounds, and Se'Lah Foreman, who scored 27 points along with six steals. Foreman hasn't dropped below three steals for 13 straight games. Carlisa Johnson was another key contributor, scoring 11 points along with eight rebounds and four steals.
Queen Anne's County pushed their record up to 12-1 with that win, which was their fifth straight on the road. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.6 points per game. As for Wicomico, their win bumped their record up to 18-1.
Queen Anne's County came up short against the Indians when the teams last played back in January of 2023, falling 42-31. Can Queen Anne's County avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
